Using a Commode Liner

Using a commode liner is a simple way to keep your commode clean. A commode liner works like a trash bag, collecting the waste so it can be easily removed from the commode pan. Commode liners usually come with an absorbent pad to soak up the liquid, so you can remove the liner without having to worry about leaks or spills.

If you decide to use a commode liner, make sure to replace it after each use, as each liner can only hold a limited amount of liquid and waste. When using commode liners, you will still need to clean your commode on occasion to make sure it stays fresh and sanitary, but you do not necessarily need to clean it after each use.

Cleaning Your Commode

Commodes can be used without liners, so long as they are cleaned after each use. To clean your commode, start by putting on a pair of disposable gloves. Next, carefully remove the commode pan and pour the collected waste down the toilet.

Now you can wash the commode pan with hot water and a household detergent, making sure to remove any traces of waste. Rinse off the commode pan and dry it with a paper towel, then put it back in place. Finally, spray the commode pan and seat with disinfectant spray.

Some people choose to pour a small amount of water into the commode pan once it's clean, as this can make it easier to clean next time. However, this is not an essential step.

Once you are finished cleaning your commode, throw out your disposable gloves and thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water.
